Submission of Abstracts ISBNPA 2010 Annual Meeting

We now welcome submissions of abstracts for oral and poster presentations in any area of behavioral nutrition and/or physical activity research and practice, for the 2010 ISBNPA annual meeting. The conference language is English. All abstracts for the ISBNPA 2010 meeting must be submitted online.

The deadline for the abstract submission is January 15, 2010. Abstracts can be submitted as either paper or poster presentations. The deadline for late breaking abstracts is March 15, 2010 and late breaking abstracts will only be accepted as poster presentations. If you have any problems or questions about submission please email the ISBNPA 2010 scientific committee at isbnpa@helsedir.no.  You will be notified about your submission by e-mail once the review of all abstracts has been completed.

  1. Complete the online form carefully. Please note that incorrectly completed forms will not be considered for review.
  2. The word limit for the abstract, excluding title and author details, is 250 words. Submissions should adhere to the format detailed below (including headings) as closely as possible.
  3. Selection of submissions to oral/poster sessions will be made at the discretion of the abstracts review committee. Abstracts submitted for oral presentations may be assigned to poster sessions. First authors are expected to be the presenter, unless a request for a change of presenting author has been otherwise sent to the abstract committee chair via isbnpa@helsedir.no by May 1st. If the presenting author is not registered in the conference, and full registration fee payment received by this date, the presentation will be automatically removed from the program with no further notice.
  4. Before submitting, you will be given the opportunity to review all of the information you have provided. Please note that no changes in the title, authorship or text of the abstracts can be made after they have been submitted.
  5. You will be notified by email upon receipt of your abstract. Decisions regarding abstract acceptance will be sent to you by Friday, April 16, 2010, after completion of the review process. No information regarding acceptance will be available before that date.
  6. Once submitted, your abstract will be assigned a unique tracking number. Please include this number in any correspondence with ISBNPA regarding your submission. You can track the status of your abstract on the website under 'my abstracts'.
  7. Any requests to withdraw a submission may be made in writing no later than April 30, 2010 to isbnpa@helsedir.no.

All submissions must adhere to the format given below (including headings) as closely as possible:

Abstracts on empirical studies

 Purpose: State the primary purpose of the study, including the main research questions or hypotheses addressed. Emphasize the innovative aspect of the research.

Methods: Quantitative studies should include design, participants, measures and analyses. Qualitative studies should include a reference to the approach being adopted (e.g. discourse analysis, grounded theory) and describe the method of data generation, (e.g. interviews, transcripts of conversations, written accounts) and analysis (e.g., content analysis).

Results/Findings: Quantitative studies should include a summary of the results, including numerical and statistical data. Qualitative studies should include an indication of the main results of the analysis (e.g. examples of themes, categories, responses, discourses to be reported).

Conclusions: Discuss the contributions to the advancement of behavioural nutrition and/or physical activity knowledge, methods or practice. 
 

Abstracts on theory or review studies

Purpose: State the aim or primary objectives of the paper. Emphasize the innovative aspect of the research.

Background: A concise summary of the context and/or a statement of the innovation or deficiency in theory, practice or policy that will be addressed.

Methods/Key points: Details of the methods used (e.g. literature review, inclusion/exclusion criteria, and methods of analysis), and a summary of the main points that will be presented in the paper.

Conclusions: Discuss the contribution to the advancement of behavioural nutrition and/or physical activity knowledge, methods or practice.
